We are excited to host the 2ⁿᵈ Law-enforcement conference: “Journey to Justice.”
This event will continue the important work to combat sexual exploitation and human trafficking as critical issues that continue to escalate across Canada, disproportionately impacting women, children, Indigenous people, and gender-diverse individuals. We will bring together professionals from different key sectors like survivors, law enforcement, crown prosecutors, Indigenous leaders, policymakers, social workers, educators, and community leaders.
Together, we will explore impactful strategies from across Canada that will address harms such as like online grooming, technology facilitated trafficking, exploitation in licenced massage and body rub parlours as well online sextortion of youth.
This conference offers a unique opportunity to engage with leading professionals from across Canada and internationally, forging new connections that will drive meaningful discussions on legislative actions, criminal justice responses, survivor supports, prevention in the education system, the necessary investments and the political will that is required to combat these grave injustices. There will keynote speakers, breakout workshops and networking opportunities.
Key Points of Discussion:
1. Impactful survivor stories and their leadership
2. International perspectives on the nexus between prostitution, violence, and demand for paid sex
3. The threat of online technology and how it can be used to combat exploitation
4. Supporting survivors in the criminal justice system
5. Risks and protection of youth online
6. Case studies by police, crown attorneys, and community agencies
7. Sex buyer and perpetrator focus: the need for deterrence through enforcement and interventions
